Placing electrical equipment

You will learn how to place electrical equipment components. You will load equipment families, with a face-based family and non-hosted family as examples, and place them in the project.

1. To load electrical equipment families, on the Insert ribbon, in the Load from Library panel, click Load Autodesk Family.

2. In the Load Autodesk Family dialog, navigate to Electrical > MEP > Electric Power > Distribution. Press CTRL and select Lighting and Appliance Panelboard – 208V MCB – Surface.rfa and Lighting and Appliance Panelboard – 480V MCB – Surface.rfa. Then click Load.

3. To place electrical equipment, on the Systems ribbon, in the Electrical panel, click Electrical Equipment.

4. Expand the Type Selector and choose one of the Lighting and Appliance Panelboard – 208V MCB – Surface types.

5. Since the family is a face-based family, a Placement panel appears on the contextual ribbon. Select Place on Vertical Face to be able to place the panelboard on a wall.
