Project Sync

The Project Sync feature provides file and folder synchronization between Vault and supported Autodesk cloud drives.

Note: This feature is available only in Vault Professional. You must also have access to BIM 360 Docs or a Fusion team hub to use Project Sync.

This capability enables Vault users to either automatically or manually synchronize files from a folder in Vault with a folder in a cloud drive. The synchronization can be configured to work in either direction or both directions providing simple and reliable two-way communications between project team members.

The Project Sync utility can be configured to perform synchronization in ways that best suit your needs. A synchronization can occur at a scheduled time each day, at specific time intervals, or on demand. Use the filter options to have even more control over which files are synchronized.

Important: BIM 360 use cases currently focus on data contained in a single file such as DWG and PDF. The following types of file references and relationships are not currently supported when using BIM 360 with Project Sync:

Project Sync Commands

With Project Sync, two new commands are added to the Vault client:

Each command adds a job to the job queue which executes using the file(s) selected.

Upload to Cloud Drive

Selected files are added from the Vault server to the cloud drive based on the folder mapping configured on the Project Sync Settings dialog. If the file exists on the cloud drive already, a new version is added.

Download from Cloud Drive

Selected files are updated from the cloud drive to the Vault server. If the files are unchanged, then no new version is created in the Vault. If there are changes, then new versions are created as needed. Any files that are not already in the Vault are added.

Job Types

The Project Sync feature creates jobs and adds them to the Job Queue to be executed automatically. Project Sync adds five new job types.
