What's New for Vault 2019

Autodesk Vault includes customer-requested enhancements to help engineering teams create and manage their data effectively and efficiently. To support a better downstream communication to external manufacturing, and support external design collaboration, a new capability to sync engineering design data with manufacturing suppliers and external consultants has been added. In addition, the 2019 release marks the next step forward with an enhanced design experience for CAD users such as checking out files within Inventor BOM dialog as well as keeping the Vault BOM and CAD BOM in sync. Finally, new custom role capabilities were added to allow administrators to create and manage additional roles.

Facilitate External and Internal Collaboration

Easily connect your design data with suppliers and external consultants, as well improve internal collaboration making sure team members outside engineering access the right design version.

External Collaboration Leveraging Project Sync Capabilities

Companies need to collaborate on CAD documents with external consultants, customers, and suppliers. The documents are often shared and collaborated on across a company firewall. It is essential that the right files are made available at the right time, and that they can be exchanged with ease regardless of their size or the number of documents.

Project Sync within Vault Professional 2019 provides file and folder synchronization between Vault and supported Autodesk cloud drive, Fusion Team.

Note: This feature is available only in Vault Professional. You also need to subscribe to Fusion Team to use Project Sync.

Cloud Drive mapping and filter capabilities help the administrator control and specify the subset of data to be shared with a specific collaborator. In addition, all referenced data and Project Links are collected and shared automatically.

Project Sync includes the following:

  • CAD relationship awareness and reference handling
  • Define and manage multiple mappings
  • Synchronization can work in either direction or both directions
  • Option to schedule synchronization
  • Selectively filter files for upload

Supported Cloud Drives

To access the Fusion 360 drive, first install Desktop Connector.

Note: Project Sync in Vault 2019 replaces Buzzsaw support (provided in previous releases), with the cloud drive support.

The following enhancements have been made to Shared Views:

  • When creating a shared view, publish options for Inventor .ipt and .iam files are now available.
  • The Copy Link option is now redisplayed in the Upload Completed dialog in case you need to copy it again.

Improved Internal Collaboration - Thin Client

By adding a configuration option for the Administrator to show only the latest released versions in the History tab of the Thin Client, the team members outside engineering can access the right latest released design data.
