Note: The parameters that are displayed will vary depending on the code selected for calculations of the required reinforcement areas.

The Additional parameters dialog is available for the following codes:

American codes ACI, Canadian code CSA A23.3-94

Parameters used in the calculation of slender columns.

Moment magnification
  • Automatic calculations - a member type assigned to the story; the option is not available in the current program version
  • Magnifiers; this option allows direct definition of a buckling coefficient for a sway structure
  • Design forces to critical forces ratio; a value of the coefficient is used for calculation of a buckling coefficient according to the formula (10-18) ACI 318
  • Stability index of a story; a value of the index is used for calculation of a buckling coefficient according to the formula (10-17) ACI 318
Analysis of moments
  • Constant ratio of moments; a ratio of first-order moments (non-sway moments) to total moments (resulting from combinations) should be defined; this ratio is the basis for calculation of the moments M1ns, M1s and M2ns, M2s
  • Ms due to loads; this option allows indicating moments that result from the second order analysis (sway moments); this option is not available in the current program version.

French codes BAEL

Methods for calculations of RC columns:

  • Simple compression; columns are calculated as ones subjected to simple compression according to point B.8.4,1 of the BAEL 91 code
  • With bending; this option is not available in the current program version.

Eurocode 2

Methods for calculations of RC columns:

  • Calculation of biaxially bent rectangular columns
  • Simplified second order analysis.

Chinese code GB 50010-2002

Methods for the calculations of RC columns:

  • Axial force N (7.3.1)
  • One-way eccentric compression N, My
  • Two-way eccentric compression N, My, Mz (Appendix F)
  • Two-way eccentric compression N, My, Mz (7.3.14 - 2).
