.NET Framework 4.7 Installation Failure (Error Code: 5100)

You cannot install this product on the current operating system

Issue: Revit install fails to complete and reports the failure is due to .NET Framework 4.7 not installing.

Possible Causes:

The machine on which you are installing the product does not meet all the .NET Framework system requirements.
- does not meet all the .NET Framework system requirements
- does not have internet access
- does not have Windows Update enabled
- is running Windows 10 version 1511 or an earlier version that does not support .NET 4.7

Microsoft Windows Hotfix KB4019990 for Windows 7 and Windows 2012 Server was not installed prior to installing the product or the hotfix did not install successfully. To check if it is installed, go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features>Installed Updates and look for Update for Microsoft Windows (KB4019990):

Solution:

Verify that the machine meets all .NET Framework system requirements.

If you are running Windows 10, check the version number. Type About in the search box on your task bar, and then select About your PC. If the version number is 1709 or 1511, upgrade the Windows 10 operating system to a newer version.
