Generic Text Tables Revit

Autodesk Support

Jun 28, 2016

Problem: You would like to create a generic text table in Revit and cannot create a table with non-model derived information. Schedules are too restrictive because all the information is derived from elements within the model.

Solution: Beginning in Revit 2014 and newer, a formatting improvement was created that allows row and columns within a schedule's title section. The cells within the title section can be filled with text and images, similar to generic tables. The cells can also be formatted with color fills and font properties. To create a generic table, create a schedule that does not discover any elements. To create a schedule:

  1. Click View tabCreate panelSchedules drop-downSchedule/Quantities
  2. In the New Schedule dialog, select the element category for which you want to schedule keys.
  3. Select Schedule Keys.

Note: you must include at least one field.

Alter the title section of the schedule to the desired generic text table parameters. The accessible API should allow for more advanced features. Theses cells can be imported and exported into a spreadsheet.
