Revit 2021 Updates

This section contains the latest information regarding the installation and use of Revit updates. It is strongly recommended that you read this entire section before you apply an update to your licensed copy of Autodesk Revit 2021 with Subscription Updates applied, either as a standalone product or as part of a collection or product suite, such as AEC Collection, Autodesk Building Design Suite 2021, Autodesk Infrastructure Design Suite 2021, or Autodesk Plant Design Suite 2021.

The Revit 2021 updates are cumulative and include all changes from previously released Revit 2021 updates.

You can download Autodesk Revit 2021 updates from Autodesk Accounts or download and install automatically from the Autodesk Desktop Application.

General installation information

Revit 2021 updates can be used with the following operating systems:
Microsoft® Windows® 10 64-bit (Enterprise or Professional)

Administrative privileges
In order to apply Revit updates, you must have administrative privileges to install and uninstall products.

Product media
If you installed Autodesk Revit 2021 from the DVD or USB, you may be asked to insert the disk or USB during installation of an update. Please have the disk or USB available before starting.
If you downloaded and installed Autodesk Revit 2021 from the web and later deleted the extracted files (default location of extracted files is C:\Autodesk\WI\Autodesk Revit 2021), the update installation may not be able to continue. In that case, you should follow these steps:

Obtain the web download file and save it to your computer.
Double-click the download file and allow it to extract its files, noting where they are being saved.
When the Autodesk Revit installer screen appears, click Cancel.
Continue with the update installation as described in the installation instructions.

Backup custom files
Back up all customized files, such as Revit.ini, before starting.

Apply Revit update to an existing installation
Follow these instructions to install an update on a single computer. Download the update executable and save it to any folder. Ensure the original product installation media is available. Find the folder where you saved the update and double-click the executable (EXE) file.

Apply Revit update to a deployment installation image
Follow these instructions to apply a Revit update to a deployment image. Start the Autodesk Revit 2021 deployment creation process. If you need to add a Revit update to an existing deployment image, launch the update shortcut located in the Tools\ApplyUpdates folder. When the deployment creation or modification process is complete and the Deployment Configuration Complete dialog is displayed, click Add Updates. If a Security Warning dialog is displayed, click Run. In the Autodesk Application Manager, click Update Software. Click Add for the Revit update to be applied to this deployment image. Once the Revit update has been successfully downloaded, click Close to exit the Autodesk Application Manager.

Apply Revit update to a deployment installation image

Follow these instructions to apply a Revit update to a deployment image. Start the Autodesk Revit 2021 deployment creation process. If you need to add a Revit update to an existing deployment image, launch the update shortcut located in the Tools\ApplyUpdates folder. When the deployment creation or modification process is complete and the Deployment Configuration Complete dialog is displayed, click Add Updates. If a Security Warning dialog is displayed, click Run. In the Autodesk Application Manager, click Update Software. Click Add for the Revit update to be applied to this deployment image. Once the Revit update has been successfully downloaded, click Close to exit the Autodesk Application Manager.

Network Deployment information
Special command line switches are available for administrators. For example, /qb - Suppresses the completion message after a Revit update is applied. This is useful if you use a script or batch file to apply a Revit update to multiple computers.
The individual installers of the wrapped executable can be extracted using the following command line once the executable is downloaded to C:\Temp\ : C:\Temp\Autodesk_Revit_2021_1.exe /e C:\Temp This will extract the individual installers to the C:\Temp folder.
