When you are ready to share your design, you may need to print your project views and/or sheets. Printing to both a connected printer and a PDF printer installed on your computer use a similar process. Click the Application menu > Print to begin the printing process.

In the print dialog, select the print device you wish to print to. In this example, a PDF printing application installed as a Windows system printer is selected. Revit has access to all of the installed Windows system printers. If the device you want to print to is not listed, you will need to install the printer driver first. To alter the settings for the printer, click Properties. The printer driver determines the properties that can be set for different printers.

In the print range section of the dialog, specify the views and sheets you would like to print. For example, select Selected Views/Sheets and then click Select to choose the sheets to print.

In the View/Sheet Set dialog, clear the views checkbox to print only sheets in the project. You can save selection sets to the project so they can be quickly recalled during another print job. Click OK to close the dialog.

If you want to print multiple sheets and/or views, use the file section of the dialog to combine the print job into one file or create a separate file for each sheet/view. You can also specify a path for the file output.

In the Print Setup dialog, specify the paper size, options, and zoom level. Specify a zoom level of 100% to print the views using the scales listed in the view properties. If printing sheets to 100%, be sure the paper size matches the size of the titleblock. Use Select scale to fit when scale is not critical and you want the output to fit on the sheet regardless of the size. When printing views or sheets with certain graphic effects, like ambient shadows, you can override the hidden line processing to use raster processing. If not selected, it will happen automatically for views requiring raster processing. Set any options you require and click OK to complete the setup.

Click OK to submit the print job. When the job is complete, save the file to the final location and open the PDF file.

All printers and PDF print writers have slightly different settings, but the basic process to create prints from Revit will remain the same.
