Part Types for Piping Family Categories

For piping family categories, the Part Type determines how pressure loss is calculated.

Pipe Accessories Attaches To The pipe accessory attaches to the face of a pipe in Revit. No pressure drops are calculated since the pipe accessory is not breaking into the pipe.
Breaks Into The pipe accessory breaks the pipe into two pipe segments. Pressure drops are calculated for the individual pipe segments.
End Cap The pipe accessory attaches (snaps) to the end of a pipe. No flow or pressure drop is calculated on the segment where the endcap is attached.
Inline Sensor Not used.
Normal The pipe accessory breaks the pipe into two separate pipe segments. Pressure drops are calculated for the individual pipe segments.
Sensor Not used.
Valve - Breaks Into The pipe accessory breaks the pipe into two separate pipe segments. Pressure drops are calculated for the individual pipe segments using predefined K-factor tables.
Valve - Normal The pipe accessory attaches (snaps) to the end of a pipe. If a pipe is connected to a secondary pipe accessory connector, that pipe will be seen as another pipe segment. In that case, pressure drops are calculated for the individual pipe segments using predefined K-factor tables.
