Visibility/Graphics for Point Clouds

To modify the visibility and graphics of point clouds in each view, use the Point Clouds tab in the Visibility/Graphics Overrides dialog.

This dialog is arranged in a tree structure. The parent nodes refer to top-level indexed point cloud files (usually .rcp files). The child nodes are individual scan locations and scan regions for a point cloud file. Changing the parent node affects all scans within the point cloud file, while changing a child node affects only the individual scan location or region.

You can use a view template to save the visibility/graphics settings of a particular view and apply it to other views.

Additionally, the extents of a point cloud visible in a plan or section view are impacted by the view range. Specifically, the portion of the point cloud between the bottom extent and the cut plane is visible.

Visibility

To hide all point clouds in the current view, clear Show point clouds in this view. To display all point clouds in the view, select the option, and then use check boxes in the Visibility column to show or hide individual point clouds, scan locations, and scan regions.

This view displays all scan regions of the point cloud. This view displays only the Walls scan region of the point cloud.

Color Mode

In the Color Mode column of the Point Clouds tab, define options to override the color mode for each point cloud file, scan location, and scan region in the view.

For a point cloud file, the button displays the current color mode state. Specify one of the visual settings listed in the following table.

For scan locations and scan regions, you can override the default setting by specifying a single color. You can specify different colors for a scan location and a scan region. If elements belong to both the location and the region, the location color is applied first; then the region color is applied to elements in the region, overriding the location color for those elements only.
Color Mode Displays the points in the point cloud... Default color mode for...
RGB in the colors specified in the source file, if available. If there are no colors in the raw scan data, all points are black. parent (top-level) indexed point cloud files that are color scans.
<No Override> in the color mode specified for the parent (top-level) point cloud file. individual scan locations and scan regions (sub level) within a point cloud project.
Single Color in a single color that you specify.
Elevation using a gradation of color between 2 colors (Max Elevation and Min Elevation in the project) that you specify.
Intensity using a gradation of color between 2 colors (Max Intensity and Min Intensity from the raw data scan) that you specify. parent (top-level) indexed point cloud files that are non-colored scans.
Normals in colors relative to the direction of the point normal (the vector direction of the points surrounding a given point).
Note: You can select any of these color modes for top-level .rcp or .rcs files. For individual .rcs scan locations and scan regions that are part of a top-level .rcp file, however, you can only override the color mode using the Single Color option.
In this view, the Walls scan region displays in magenta, and the Floors scan region displays in blue.
