Specify the Location

Before performing energy optimization of the building model, specify its geographic location and select a nearby weather station.

  1. Click Analyze tabEnergy Optimization panel (Location).
  2. In the dialog, enter the project's full address, or the closest city or town. If more than one potential location is available, select it from the list.

Available weather stations display in the map and in the left-hand list. In general, you should choose a weather station nearest to your location. However, you may want to choose a nearby weather station whose elevation and land or water features better reflect the model's location.

Note: To see weather stations in the map and in the list, you must be signed into your subscription-enabled Autodesk account.

Weather stations with references starting with 59### are Typical Meteorological Years (TMYs), which cover most major cities around the world. All other weather stations are from Autodesk's climate server, which provides data for the whole world at a 14 km (8.8 mile) grid for the years 2004 and 2006. These stations are useful when the project is located where TMY data is unavailable.
