Specify Pattern Mapping for DWG/DXF Export

You can map Revit fill patterns to specific hatch patterns in DWG as needed.

On the Patterns tab of the Modify DWG/DXF Export Setup dialog (see Exporting to DWG or DXF), you can map Revit fill patterns to specific hatch patterns in DWG as needed.

By default, all the Revit fill patterns listed in the mapping table will have a corresponding DWG hatch pattern generated automatically upon export. This hatch pattern will match the Revit fill pattern. If you want to map a fill pattern to a specific DWG hatch pattern from the currently loaded .pat file, do the following:
  1. Verify that the text box above the mapping table (Load DWG hatch patterns from) displays the name of the .pat file containing the desired hatch pattern. (To load a different file, click , select a file in the Load Hatch Patterns dialog, and click OK.)
  2. In the Hatch Patterns in DWG column, click the value for the pattern, and then select the desired pattern from the drop-down list.
You can click Reset All to change all the hatch pattern values in the table back to {Automatically generate hatch pattern}. Alternatively, you can multi-select rows and click {Automatically generate hatch pattern}.

At the bottom of the tab, under Pattern Type, you can specify which type of fill patterns (drafting or model) are listed in the table. The available hatch pattern options are the same, regardless of which pattern type is selected.

Tip: If a hatch pattern is not visible in the exported DWG file, and the message "Hatch Pattern Too Dense" displays in the AutoCAD text window, try adjusting the AutoCAD system variable HPMAXLINES to increase the maximum number of hatch lines that are generated in a hatch operation. For more information, see the AutoCAD Help documentation.
