Video: Adding a Special Characters or Symbols to a Text Note
Note: This video was recorded using Revit. When performing the procedures using Revit LT, you may notice minor differences in functionality and user interface.
Note: Each text note can use only one font. Within one text note, you cannot use one font for text and another font for symbols.

To add a symbol using the context menu

  1. In the text note, move the cursor to the location where you want to insert a symbol or character.
  2. Right-click, and on the context menu, click Symbols.
  3. Select the desired symbol from the list.

The symbol immediately displays at the cursor location.

  4. If the list does not include the desired symbol, do the following:
    1. At the bottom of the Symbol list, select Other.
    2. In the Character Map dialog, select the desired symbol, click Select, and click Copy.

The character is copied to the clipboard.

Note: If the font for characters doesn’t match the font of the text note, the selected characters may not display as expected in the note.
    3. In the text note, press Ctrl+V, or click Modify | Text Notes tabClipboard panel (Paste).
    4. The character displays in the text note.

To add a symbol using a key sequence

  1. Determine the Unicode decimal value for the desired symbol or special character.

You can open the Character Map dialog and select the desired symbol. Its ALT key sequence displays in the lower right corner of the dialog.

As an alternative, consult a list available on the Internet. Search for "Alt keyboard sequences" or "Alt key numeric codes".

  2. In the text note, move the cursor to the location where you want to insert a character.
  3. Press and hold ALT, type the numbers of the Unicode value for the character, and release ALT.

For example, to insert the alpha symbol, press and hold ALT, type 945 on the numeric keypad, and release ALT.

Note: You must use the numeric keypad to type the numbers in the key sequence. If your keyboard does not have a numeric keypad, use SymbolsOther on the context menu, as described above. To speed entry of the number sequence, enable Num Lock for the numeric keypad.
