Using Virtual Reality

Use VR to explore your models with easy and comfortable navigation in virtual reality.

Live gives you the ability to move around your scene using room-scale virtual reality (VR), where you are actually able to physically move within the space. By replicating real-world movement, this type of virtual reality makes the virtual environment seem more real than a VR room's self-contained environment or seated/standing VR.

Note: If you do not have the space to move freely, set your handset to Pivoting Only (instead of Room-Scale) and you can teleport through the scene.

Requirements

To use VR in Live, you must have the following requirements:
Requirement Recommended Minimum
Physical space 1.5 m X 2 m No space required if headset is set to Pivoting Only.
Headset HTC Vive / Oculus Rift
Controller HTC Vive Controllers / Oculus Touch Controllers
Video card/GPU NVIDIA graphics card meeting/exceeding headset specifications Refer to headset specifications.
CPU Intel Core i7-6700K Processor Refer to headset specifications.
Memory 8GB+ RAM Refer to headset specifications.
Video output Refer to headset specifications.
USB ports Refer to headset specifications.
OS Refer to headset specifications.

Guidelines

In general, large scenes can cause juddering (shaking) and make you feel uncomfortable in virtual reality. If this occurs, reduce the size of your scene by:
  • using section boxes in Revit to limit size
  • hiding optional objects and geometry to reduce its complexity.

Be sure to navigate your scene thoroughly in VR prior to presenting it to others as a final quality check.
