Autodesk® ReCap™ Pro for mobile end of life
Frequently Asked Questions

What is the announcement?

Autodesk has made the decision to discontinue Autodesk® ReCap Pro for mobile as an entitlement of ReCap Pro.

As of April 17, 2021

  • Customers with a current subscription to ReCap Pro will no longer be able to access and use ReCap Pro for mobile.
  • ReCap Pro for mobile will no longer be available for download and installation from the Apple App store.
  • New subscriptions of ReCap Pro will no longer include ReCap Pro for mobile as an entitlement. All other entitlements to ReCap Pro will remain unchanged.

Why has Autodesk decided to discontinue ReCap Pro for mobile?

ReCap Pro for mobile delivered support for the Leica BLK360 laser scanner. However, because updates to ReCap Pro for mobile are regularly required in order to take advantage of the latest BLK360 firmware, it was determined that customers would be better served if they use the Leica Cyclone FIELD 360 mobile app. Users of the Leica Cyclone 360 mobile app can take full advantage of the latest BLK360 device capabilities.

I have a subscription to ReCap Pro, how long can I continue to use ReCap Pro for mobile?

Customers with a current subscription to ReCap Pro may continue to use ReCap Pro for mobile through April 16, 2021. Starting on April 17, 2021, access to and use of ReCap Pro for mobile will no longer be available.

Will I able to continue using ReCap Pro?

Yes. Customers with a current subscription of ReCap Pro will continue to have access to ReCap Pro, with the exception of ReCap Pro for mobile, and to all other entitlements currently included with ReCap Pro. You may renew your subscription at any time.

ReCap Pro will continue to be available as a standalone product subscription, a subscription to an Autodesk industry collection, or through an Enterprise Business Agreement.

What if I have a subscription to an industry collection?

Regardless of the type of subscription to ReCap Pro, ReCap Pro for mobile will no longer be available as an entitlement starting April 17, 2021.

I have an Enterprise Business Agreement contract with Autodesk, how does this decision impact me?

The discontinuation of ReCap Pro for mobile also impacts customers with an Enterprise Business Agreement. As of April 17, 2021, ReCap Pro for mobile will no longer be available to these customers.

With these changes, what alternatives do I have to ReCap Pro for mobile?

Autodesk has established a strong partnership with Leica Geosystems with a focus on developing more optimized reality capture workflows for our customers. We encourage ReCap Pro customers to consider using the Leica Cyclone FIELD 360 mobile app. Leica Cyclone 360 links data acquisition workflows in the field with the BLK360 laser scanner and data registration in Leica Cyclone REGISTER 360. Leica Cyclone Field 360 has all of the capabilities of ReCap Pro for mobile, including the ability to handle and register large projects, thermal imagery capture, direct publish to the cloud, and more.

The Leica Cyclone FIELD 360 mobile app enables customers to take raw scans from the BLK360 laser scanner and upload them into Leica Cyclone REGISTER 360. This data can then be exported out as ReCap project files (*.rcp, *.rcs, *.rcc) and can then be opened in ReCap Pro.

To help with this transition, Leica is providing a discounted offer for Cyclone FIELD 360 and Cyclone REGISTER 360. The price for this bundle has been reduced to $600 USD (from $1200 USD) or €450 EUR (from €900 EUR). Leica has indicated that this offer is available now through March 31, 2021.

ReCap Pro customers interested in more pricing and purchase information about Leica's bundle offer and other solutions, need to contact Leica directly. To learn more about the Cyclone FIELD 360 + Cyclone REGISTER 360 bundle, click here.

My existing scanned data is stored in my BLK360 device and iPad. Can I transfer the scanned data to ReCap Pro once ReCap Pro for mobile is discontinued?

Customers must transfer data stored in their iPad from ReCap Pro for mobile to ReCap Pro before April 17, 2021, as they will not be able to access nor use the ReCap Pro for mobile app after this date.

Scanned data stored in the BLK360 device will still be accessible after April 16, 2021. Scanned data can be transferred from the BLK360 device to Leica Cyclone REGISTER 360 and can be converted to ReCap Pro files at any time.
