3D Packer – Monte Carlo

The Monte Carlo Packer works with a different algorithm which can speed up the packing process as much as ten times for the right configuration. It works especially well for packing jobs with a large amount of different parts. It also prevents parts from interlocking.

An example of two interlocking tori that can’t be separated. The Monte Carlo Packer will prevent that from happening

It is available via context area icon, Edit menu, and the viewing screen’s context menu.

Dialog for different settings of the packer.

You can set distances for parts from the wall, the floor and in between parts. It is also possible to define whether parts should be rotated. Finally use the slider to set the Packing Quality. The quality defines the allow deviation from the set distance values to perform the packing, the higher the quality, the stricter the packer will adhere to the setting with the downside of taking longer to finish.
