Review Warpage Results

In this task, you interpret warpage indicator results to determine the relative magnitude of warpage.

  1. Click View tab > Visibility panel > Object Visibility.

  2. De-select all objects except Cavities.

  3. Rotate, the model so the rotation is approximately 180 45 90, and the view cube looks similar to the image.

  4. Click Warpage indicator, all effects in the study tasks pane.

  5. Click (Results tab > Results panel > Plot Properties).

  6. Select the Deflection tab, set the Scale factor to 5 and Click OK. This setting will exaggerate the deflection five times so that it can be seen better.

This result shows the relative magnitude of the warpage (out of plane change in shape) for the parts. Green areas are less than 80% and red areas are at least 120% of the Nominal max. deflection. The default value for Nominal maximum deflection is half the average wall thickness of the part. This result is shown in the result legend and is also listed in the Warpage Constraints (Results tab > Results panel > Warpage Constraints).

  7. Rotate Pan and zoom to inspect the warpage.

  8. Split the screen and display the other warpage indicators.

Compare them to the all effects plot. The plot that looks most like the all effects plot has the greatest influence on the warpage. In this case, differential cooling is most like the all effects plot.
