What's New in Maya 2020.4 Update

Welcome to Maya 2020.4 Update! This release includes a major update to Bifrost Extension for Maya, as well as new Rokoko Motion Library, Substance, and Arnold for Maya plug-ins. On top of these new features, check out the release notes page for the detailed list of fixed issues.

Maya 2020.4 is the latest in a series of updates, with continued focus on creating more artist-friendly tools and experiences. For more on the evolution of Maya over the years, check out the Maya timeline on Autodesk AREA.

Bifrost Extension for Maya 2.2.0.0

Bifrost 2.2.0.0 includes a deeper, more powerful Maya integration, improved usability, and new capabilities in scattering, instancing, volumetrics, and FX. See the Bifrost Release Notes for a list of features and bug fixes included in this version.

Arnold for Maya 4.1.1 plug-in

Maya 2020.4 provides MtoA 4.1.1 that renders Bifrost terminals and the new bifrostGraphShape, and includes features of MtoA 4.1.0 such as: imagers, a brand new post-processing framework; support for nested dielectrics, and much improved progressive and adaptive sampling.

Updated Rokoko plug-in

This Maya update provides a new Rokoko Motion Library plug-in, version 1.1.3. This plug-in includes an improved initialization experience, enhanced character preview through a new orbit function, and other bug fixes. Visit the Rokoko Help & Community site for Getting Started content.

Updated Substance plug-in

Maya 2020.4 Update provides a new Substance 2.1.7 plug-in which includes these features: compatibility with Substance Engine 8.0.3, support for the Standard Surface shader, bug fixes, as well as improved interoperability with Maya and other Substance programs.

Graph Editor: Time Marker snap to key

A new option in the Graph Editor Select menu, Snap time to selection, lets you set the Graph Editor's Current Time Marker so that it jumps to the position of any key you select. This option is disabled by default, but you can turn it on using Alt + / (forward slash).
