Create polygons with Quad Draw

To create polygons with Quad Draw

  1. Ensure that the Quad Draw tool is turned on. See Retopologize a mesh with Quad Draw.
  2. In your scene, move the cursor over dots while holding Shift.

The Quad Draw tool enters face preview mode, highlighting the possible faces in green.

It is helpful to preview faces because one set of dots can have many face combinations.

  3. Shift-click a face preview.

A new surface called polySurface1 is created.

Tip: Select Shading > Wireframe on Shaded to superimpose a wireframe on the reference mesh.
  4. Continue to add faces by dropping additional dots and extending existing edges. See Extend edges with Quad Draw.
  5. Fill triangular shaped holes in your new mesh. See Fill holes with Quad Draw.
  6. Use the Quad Draw hotkeys to refine your new mesh. See Refine polygons with Quad Draw.
