Fill analysis in mold design

A fill analysis predicts the thermoplastic polymer flow inside the mold during the filling phase.

The analysis calculates a flow front that grows through the part incrementally from the injection location. It continues until it reaches the velocity pressure switchover point. The results of the fill analysis calculate on four laminates through the thickness, and symmetrical cooling boundary conditions are assumed.

A part fill analysis evaluates an individual plastic part. A mold fill analysis evaluates the entire mold design, including the feed system. Fill analyses answer the following questions:

A Part Fill Analysis predicts the flow of plastic through an individual part. A Mold Fill Analysis predicts the flow of plastic through the entire mold, including the feed system.
