About Simplified Assemblies

Use the Simplification tools to reduce model complexity for faster referencing throughout your design process.

When you do not need to display all the details provided in a part (.ipt) file for an assembly, create a simple view representation of the assembly with only the critical information, such as mounting points. Use the Simplification tools to reduce model complexity for easier and faster referencing throughout your design process.

For example, you can simplify a model to:

Workflow Overview

  1. Open an assembly (.iam) file. On the Assemble tab, locate the Simplification panel.
  2. Click Simplify View and specify components included in the simplified version.
  3. Use Define Envelopes to replace complex geometry.
  4. When ready, combine the components into one simplified part using Create Simplified Part.
