Hello

I have student version of Inventor 2014. Yesterday I noticed that when I want to open a file using open command from main menu, Inventor crashes immidiately. Also the same when I want to export file to different type (like step or stl). I have no problems with opening file by using "open in" command (right click on a file -> list -> open in Inventor) and saving it in ipt file type. I tried everything, also I have uninstalled Inventor and installed it again but I still have this problem.

Best regards

Hello

I solved my problem last week. I tried to uninstall Inventor once again and after that I used some programme to delete all remaining files. After thet I installed Inventor 2014 again and now everything is ok and my problem dissapeared. But still I don't know what was wrong.

In my previous post i meant that I am using Inventor for 3 years and this was the first time when i had this kind of problem. My computer parameters:

procesor: Intel Core i7-3610QM

graphics cards: AMD Radeon HD7670M & Intel HD Graphics 4000

RAM: 8GB

Welcome to the forum,

Have you installed all the updates and Service Packs/patches for 2014 Inventor?

Have you submitted the crash report? If yes, could you please let us know the email address which is used to submit the report? So that we could dig into it more.

also, may be worth checking...

sometimes if you crash the inventor process will stay open. then when you start inventor again you have multiple processes running and this will cause you to crash again or hang.

if you crash, have a look in your task manager / processes to see if there is still one running, and if there is, end the process before starting a new one. Then, you may want to leave ot for a couple of minutes before starting a new inventor.

i was wondering if the "open in inventor" is actually initiating a new process too... maybe just use "open" from inside inventor at the start of a new day or after a reboot and stay away from the other "open in inventor" method you like to use from windows explorer, just for testing purposes to start with.

i was trying to figure out what you meant from "this just started yesterday" & "there was a problem since i installed 2014". are you aware of any changes to your computer or system recently.

also can you please specify exactly what service pack number and or updates you are on at the moment please? also include your workstation specs if you can please.

cheers.
