Sketch Properties reference

Displays or changes the line color, linetype, linetype scale, and line weight of selected sketch geometry.

Sketch Properties toolbar

The toolbar is available in 2D Sketch for parts, assemblies, and drawings, and in 3D Sketch for parts. It is available outside of sketch mode for parts and assemblies when you select a valid sketch object.

Access
Ribbon: Sketch tab Format panel Sketch Properties
Color Control
Specifies the current line color to apply to newly created geometry, or displays the line color of selected geometry. The Color scheme that you select in Tools tab Options panel Application Options Colors tab, sets the default color.

Standard and custom colors are available for selection in the drop-down list. The Select option opens the Color dialog box to define custom colors and add them to the list. Custom colors are shown with RGB values.

Linetype Control
Specifies the linetype to apply to newly created sketch geometry or displays the linetype of selected geometry. The default linetype is Continuous.

Linetype options are available for selection in the drop-down list. At the bottom of the list, Other opens the Select Line Type dialog box, where you can add linetypes to the list.

Note: To load an AutoCAD .lin file, click Load at the bottom of the Select Line Type dialog box. For more information, see Load Line Type (LIN file).
Lineweight Control
Specifies the actual line thickness to apply to newly created sketch geometry or displays the line weight of selected geometry. The default line weight is 0.010 in or 0.25 mm as set in Tools tab Options panel Document Settings Units tab.

The line weight value represents the actual thickness of the line on paper. To specify how line weights display on the screen, see Document settings - Sketch tab.

Switches between the user-defined and default formats for the selected sketch. The default format displays when you select Formatting Toggle.

Geometry Properties dialog box

Access
In the graphics area, right-click selected geometry, and on the context menu, click Properties.
Line Color

Displays the line color of the selected sketch geometry, and provides a list of available colors so that you can change the setting. The default line color is the color scheme set in the Applications Options dialog box, Colors tab.

The Select option on the drop-down list opens the Color dialog box. You can choose another basic color, or create a custom color to add to the selection list.

Line Type

Displays the linetype of selected geometry, and provides a drop-down list of available linetype selections. You can change the setting. The default linetype is Continuous.

At the bottom of the drop-down list, Other opens the Select Line Type dialog box. You can add other linetypes to the selection list.

Note: To load an AutoCAD .lin file, at the bottom of the Select Line Type dialog box, click Load. For more information, see Load Line Type (LIN file).
Scale

When selected, you can view or change the linetype scale. The smaller the scale, the more repetitions of the pattern are generated per unit. For example, with a setting of 0.05, two repetitions of the pattern in the linetype definition display for each unit. Short line segments that cannot display one full linetype pattern display as continuous. You can use a smaller linetype scale for lines that are too short to display even one dash sequence.

The default scale is 1.00.

Line Weight

Displays the line weight of selected geometry, and provides a drop-down list of available line thicknesses. The default line weight is 0.010 in, or 0.25 mm, as set in the Document Settings dialog box, Units tab.

The line weight value represents the actual thickness of the line on paper. To specify how line weights display on the screen, see Document settings - Sketch tab.
