Issue:

When simulating spring as a Connector in Nastran it seems the spring is not compressed. Creating a coordinate system for the spring gives the same results.

Solution:

When viewing the results in Nastran, springs may look like they are not moving, but it is only displaying (in reality, springs are calculated properly).

Example:

The stiffness of a spring is k = 20N/mm. The compression force acting vertically is F = 100N (the gravity is omitted). The total displacement due to compression should be x = 5mm (from the equation F = k*x).

Results from Nastran:

The spring is compressed by 5mm in accordance with manual calculations.
