Windows Installation

The following procedure installs both Autodesk Inventor Nastran, which is an add-in to Autodesk Inventor, and Autodesk Nastran, a stand-alone product.

Ensure that your computer hardware meets the specified System Requirements.
The supported Autodesk Inventor (Standard or Professional) version is 2021, and this must be installed before installing Inventor Nastran 2021.
You must have approximately 1.0 GB of free disk space. A quick check prior to beginning the installation can save you some time.

Installation Procedure

Log into your computer as an Administrator.
Download the executable installer file or insert the product DVD into your DVD drive.
If you are working from the product DVD, locate the Setup.exe file, right-click it, and choose Run as Administrator to start the installation process. Then, skip to step 5.
Alternatively, if you downloaded the single-file installer from the Autodesk website, locate that file, right-click it, and choose Run as Administrator. The downloadable installer is a self-extracting archive.
1. Specify the Destination folder to which you want to extract the installer files.
2. Click Install. The files in the archive will be extracted to your hard drive, and the Setup.exe file will be launched automatically.
On the Autodesk Inventor Nastran dialog that appears, click Install to advance to the next screen.
Accept the License and Services Agreement by activating the I accept radio button and click Next.
Optionally, change the Installation path if desired (for example, if you are running low on free space on your system drive).
Note: A Nastran 20xx subfolder is created within the folder you specify in the Installation path field. You do not need to specify a product-specific subfolder as part of the Installation path; just specify the parent folder path.
Click Install.
When the installation process is completed, click Finish to dismiss the installer package.
After installing the software, uninstall any versions of Adobe Acrobat Reader that are prior to V7.0.
If not already installed, download and install the current version of Adobe Acrobat Reader from https://get.adobe.com/reader. This program is required for accessing some of the Inventor Nastran documentation.
Note: Most of the Inventor Nastran Help is accessed online using your web browser. Optionally, you can download and install a local copy of the Help, which is also accessed using your web browser. However, other documents (such as the Autodesk Inventor Nastran Verification Manual), are provided as locally installed PDF files. The Acrobat Reader is needed for these files.
