Introducing multi-user access for Autodesk InfraWorks

Autodesk Support

Sep 24, 2019

On September 25, 2019, Autodesk introduced multi-user access for Autodesk® InfraWorks® enabling you to share access (up to the number of seats purchased) to InfraWorks. Here are the answers to some frequently asked questions about the change.

Who is eligible for InfraWorks with multi-user access?
Customers using InfraWorks (2020.1 or more recent release versions) purchased through one of the following are eligible for multi-user access:

  • An Autodesk® Architecture, Engineering & Construction Collection (AEC Collection) with multi-user access subscription, or
  • An Enterprise Business Agreement (EBA)

Please note that existing customers of the AEC Collection with multi-user access will need to generate new license file(s) for the license server in order to use InfraWorks (2020.1 or more recent release versions) via multi-user access.

Is multi-user access available for InfraWorks if it was purchased as a stand-alone, perpetual license or through the Autodesk Infrastructure Design Suite?
No. Multi-user access is not enabled for stand-alone, perpetual licenses or InfraWorks obtained as part of the Autodesk Infrastructure Design Suite.

I’m using an Educational (EDU) license, am I affected?
Educational licenses for InfraWorks (2020.1 or more recent release versions) are not available for single-user or multi-user access at this time.

I’m using a Not For Resale (NFR) license for InfraWorks (2020.1 or more recent release versions), am I affected?
Not For Resale licenses are supported for both multi-user and single-user access. If you are using InfraWorks as part of an AEC Collection subscription with multi-user access, configure your InfraWorks (2020.1 or more recent release versions) license as you would any other AEC Collection product, and regenerate the license file.

If you are using InfraWorks with single-user access (on its own or through the Autodesk Infrastructure Design Suite), you can choose to input a serial number and then sign-in after you install InfraWorks (2020.1 or more recent release versions) and select the Single-user license option.

My organization has an Enterprise Business Account (EBA) and/or Token Flex Licensing, is there anything I should know?
Existing users of InfraWorks (2020.0) or older release versions of InfraWorks via an EBA can access InfraWorks (2020.1 or more recent release versions) with a single-user license, using the same install and licensing workflows as before. However, we have also added the alternative option for EBA or Token Flex customers to choose multi-user access if they’d prefer to do so.

My organization has a subscription to the AEC Collection with multi-user access, how many users can access InfraWorks cloud services?
Unlike AEC Collection software installed on your desktop (which uses a license checked out from your network server), access to cloud services requires a user to sign in. To simplify administration (eliminate the need to assign users), your admin can up to three named users for InfraWorks cloud services for every one seat of the AEC Collection (a 3:1 ratio). A user may only access InfraWorks cloud services if:

  • They’re assigned as a named user by their admin, and
  • They’ve checked out an InfraWorks license from the network server.

For example, if you have 10 AEC Collection subscriptions with multi-user access, you:

  • Get up to 10 users who can use InfraWorks at a single time, and
  • Can assign 30 named users access to InfraWorks cloud services.
Note: To use InfraWorks cloud services, the named user must also check out an InfraWorks license from their network server.

For more information, see Industry Collection Licensing.

How can I enable multi-user access for my InfraWorks software?
If you have an AEC Collection subscription with multi-user access or an EBA, ask your contract manager or software coordinator to upgrade you to the latest version of InfraWorks (2020.1 or more recent release versions), and generate new AEC collection license files.

Is network license management for InfraWorks integrated with other AEC software license management (same license file, software, and processes)?
Yes. The same workflows used in the current license management system can be applied. No customizations or special builds were developed to support this change.
Note: You'll need to generate new AEC collection license files if you're upgrading from previous release versions of InfraWorks (2020.0 or older release versions).

Is there anything we need to do to minimize the risks of disruption?
There should be no disruptions to current installations of InfraWorks as long as you have generated new AEC collection license files.

Is the option to purchase or renew Autodesk subscriptions with single-user access going away?
No.

Will customers who currently have InfraWorks with single-user access (on its own or through an Autodesk Infrastructure Design Suite) be able to continue using their software?
Yes.

Are previous releases of InfraWorks affected?
No. However, if you would like the option for multi-user access, install the latest version of InfraWorks (2020.1 or more recent release versions) through a current subscription to the AEC Collection with multi-user access or an EBA.

Is InfraWorks with multi-user access available for trial?
No. InfraWorks with multi-user access is only available through a paid subscription to the AEC Collection with multi-user access or an EBA.

Where can I get more information about licensing options, management and deployment?

Who do I contact if I have more questions?
If you have additional questions, contact your Authorized Autodesk Representative.
