Groove toolpath does not follow the entire model geometry in Fusion 360

Issue:

In a Fusion 360 turning operation a groove toolpath does not follow the model geometry and leaves a section of the groove geometry untouched.

Solution:

Using Model Override to select the relevant model contour chain is a good option for situations like this. 

Here is how to do this;

  1. Go to the design environment (alternatively use a Manufacturing Model to do this).
  2. Create a sketch on one of the planes cutting through the center of the model such as the YZ or the XZ planes. 
  3. Within the Sketch Go to Create.
  4. Select Project/Include.
  5. Select Intersect.

  1. Make sure that the Selection Filter is set to "Bodies" (the cylinder icon).
  2. Then select the model body. 
  3. Click OK.
  4. Close the Sketch.

  1. Return to the Manufacture Environment.
  2. Right Click on the Groove toolpath and select Edit.
  3. Go to the Geometry tab.
  4. Check the Model checkbox.
  5. Select the entire contour that contains the relevant groove. 
  6. Click Ok.

  1. The toolpath should regenerate and work correctly now.
