Essential skills videos

Watch these videos to learn about some of the essential skills in FeatureCAM.

Introduction to features and geometry

This video guides you through the steps required to create machinable features using geometry. Once your geometry has been created, it can either be used as individual pieces, or multiple geometry pieces can be combined into curves, to define feature boundaries. FeatureCAM will then automatically select tools, feeds and speeds, and cutting parameters, which can then be verified, using a variety of simulation modes before generating NC code.

Automatic feature recognition

This video demonstrates automatic feature recognition (AFR), which guides you through the process of creating machinable features automatically, using a solid model. By simply following a step-by-step wizard, your model is analysed and features can be rapidly created, ready for machining.

Interactive feature recognition

For a more in depth approach, this video looks at interactive feature recognition (IFR), which can be used to generate features using surfaces and solid models interactively. This approach provides greater level of control than that which is provided by Automatic Feature Recognition, by allowing you to choose which faces are used to define your feature boundaries.

Introduction to turning

This video guides you through the steps of importing a 3D CAD model, creating curves and features, part simulation, and generating NC code.

Part handling for turning

Learn how to use part handling when programming multiple work offsets for a lathe, turn-mill or Swiss-type lathe. This includes transferring a part from the main to sub spindle whether you are using a slug or bar.
