This document provides answers related to the availability of BIM 360 Build for accounts that store data on the European data center.

What BIM 360 capabilities are now available to use with the EU server?

BIM 360 Field, BIM 360 Glue (classic) and BIM 360 Docs (Document Management) have been available on the EU server and continue to be supported.

The following next-generation BIM 360 modules are now also available on the EU server: Field Management, Project Management, Project Home and Insight (Dashboards only). These modules are available to subscribers of BIM 360 Build.

  • Field Management provides powerful issues and checklist capabilities to support quality, safety, commissioning and punch list workflows, as well as to track Daily Updates. Checklist and issue status and root cause dashboards are available in Insight.
  • Project Management supports RFI workflows and contractual document management, including customizable reports and access on mobile devices.
  • Project Home offers a single view into your entire project, with access to important, relevant, and actionable information from across BIM 360 and some 3rd party services.

What customers have access to these capabilities?

Any BIM 360 subscriber can activate the Document Management module and will have access to Project Home. BIM 360 Build subscribers can activate the Field Management and Project Management modules. Insight will be activated automatically when Field Management is activated on a project.

How do new customers choose the EU server option?

The BIM 360 account fulfillment setup form includes an option to select which data center to use at the time of account creation.

How do customers activate these modules for their projects?

Customers can add services to either a new or existing project through Project Administration.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • The Document Management module must be activated for any project that uses the Project Management or Field Management module. This module can be activated for any existing or new project in BIM 360.
  • BIM 360 Field and the Field Management module can not be used on the same project. When setting up a project, you will be able to choose which service to use.

Can one BIM 360 account have some projects stored in the USA and some projects stored in Europe?

No. The customer must specify a single geographical location for primary storage of a BIM 360 account or tenant and all Covered Content from projects associated with that tenant.  A customer purchasing a new account can choose to have that account and Covered Content associated with that project primarily stored in the USA or in Europe.

What if a customer needs to store some project content in the USA and some in Europe?

If a customer needs to have some Covered Content associated with a project primarily stored in the USA and some in Europe, then the customer will have to have two BIM 360 accounts or tenants, one in the USA and one in Europe.

Will existing BIM 360 content for European customers be moved to Europe?

No. Many of our largest European customers have been BIM 360 customers for years and have accumulated a lot of project content on USA servers. Today, we have no easy way to move existing content. So for existing European customers, they can either keep all projects in one account in the USA, or they can request a second account for new projects.

Can an existing customer request to have their content moved from the USA to Europe?

Today, we do not offer that option.
