1.What is BIM 360 Docs?

Autodesk BIM 360 Docs is a building and construction document management solution and is part of Autodesk BIM 360, Autodesk’s project delivery and construction management platform. The platform supports informed decision-making across the project lifecycle by centralizing all project data in a single data repository and connecting project stakeholders and workflows – from design to construction to operations, from the field to the office and back. You can start and maintain multiple projects in BIM 360 Docs, which offers features including:

  • 2D & 3D viewer
  • online and offline web, phone and tablet access
  • markups
  • control of permissions based on company, role, user, file or folder
  • issue management
  • version control and rollback
  • unlimited cloud storage

2.What is the BIM 360 Docs extended preview?

Autodesk is offering a 12-month full-featured preview of the BIM 360 Docs Trial Version to customers who subscribe to the Autodesk Architecture, Engineering, and Construction Collection as of April 9, 2018. Your use of the BIM 360 Docs Trial Version is limited to non-commercial evaluation purposes with no rights to make available or distribute the Trial Version to any third party.

3.Who can activate and use the BIM 360 Docs extended preview?

Contract managers of subscriptions to the AEC Collection as of April 9, 2018 will receive an email invitation containing a unique weblink that can be used to start the preview for their team. Only contract managers who receive the invitation and link can initiate the preview. We recommend that customers only create one BIM 360 account for use across their organization. Multiple accounts created in the same organization would remain separate with siloed data. Contract managers will be able to add more admins / users from BIM 360 once the trial is started.

4.When can I activate the extended preview?

The form for signing up for a 12-month trial will be open until June 15, 2018.

5.Is there a trial version of BIM 360 Docs available for those who do not subscribe to the AEC Collection?

Yes a 30-day trial is available here. The BIM 360 Docs preview extends the trial period to 12 months.

6.How do I start and set up the BIM 360 Docs 12-month preview?

As a qualifying contract manager, you will receive an email invitation containing a link to a form where you can activate your preview. There are four steps to activate: click the link in your invite email, click “activate preview” on the web form, receive an email confirmation from BIM 360, click link in email to log in to BIM 360.

7.What if I already subscribe to Autodesk BIM 360 Team or Autodesk® Collaboration for Revit®?

If you subscribe to BIM 360 Team and / or Collaboration for Revit, we recommend that you NOT start a BIM 360 Docs preview. As part of the launch of Autodesk BIM 360 Design on April 9, 2018, customers subscribing to BIM 360 Team and Collaboration for Revit will already have access to the new BIM 360 platform which can be activated from your Autodesk Account. We recommend AEC Collection subscribers who also subscribe to BIM 360 Team and / or Collaboration for Revit visit their Autodesk Account to access the new platform.

8.How does BIM 360 Docs work with the software and services I access in the AEC Collection?

BIM 360 Docs serves as the centralized document library for BIM 360 to publish and access all documents, plans and models. BIM 360 Docs supports view, share, review, and markup of more than 50 2D and 3D design file formats including AutoCAD (DWG, CAD), DXF, Revit (RVT), IFC, and Navisworks (NWD, NWF). You can use the Desktop Connector for BIM 360 Docs to connect your Windows desktop with BIM 360 Docs.
