Issue:

When entering an AutoCAD Raster Design command, an Unknown command message is displayed on the command line:

C:\Program Files\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\RasterDesign [release].Bundle\Contents\[ARX file name] cannot find a dll or other file that it needs.

Unknown command "IINSERT". Press F1 for help.

Note: The release number and file name that cannot be found may be different:

The ARX file names include, but are not limited to:

ARX files:Commands:

aeciibui63.arx ISRECTREG
aecitouchup64.arxITOUCHUP
aecirsui57.arxIRSHEET
aeciremui63.arxISPOLYREG

Causes:

  • Differing versions of AutoCAD Raster Design and AutoCAD Products.
  • The support file search path in AutoCAD is not configured for Raster Design support files.
  • Raster Design was installed before AutoCAD.
  • An old AutoCAD or Raster Design profile was imported into a newer version.
  • Raster Design is not supported in AutoCAD LT.

Solution:

Try the following solutions in order. If one does not work, go to the next.

AutoCAD Raster Design version

Confirm that the same version of AutoCAD Raster Design and the corresponding AutoCAD Product are installed.

Add the missing search paths

  1. Start AutoCAD.
  2. Enter OPTIONS on the command line.
  3. Go to the Files tab and expand Support File Search Path.
  4. If there are extra paths for Raster Design, such as for a different version, remove them.
  5. Add the missing paths:
    • C:\Program Files\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\RasterDesign202x.Bundle\Contents
    • C:\Program Files\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\RasterDesign202x.Bundle\Contents\help
  6. Click OK.
  7. Exit and restart AutoCAD.

Check for insufficient permissions

  1. Increase permission by giving full control to the folders and registry keys AutoCAD uses (see What user permissions does AutoCAD require?).
  2. Reinstall AutoCAD.
Reset AutoCAD to defaults

Reset AutoCAD to defaults (see How to reset AutoCAD to defaults).

Reinstall Raster Design from the Control Panel. See the following

Note: It may be necessary to disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus software to complete the install.
