Hardware acceleration is unavailable after resetting AutoCAD to defaults

Issue:

After resetting AutoCAD to defaults, the option to enable hardware video acceleration is grayed out and disabled. Shadows and other lighting features cannot be used. Prior to resetting to defaults, hardware acceleration was available.

Solution:

See Hardware acceleration cannot be enabled in AutoCAD for troubleshooting suggestions. Additionally, it may be necessary to edit the following registry values:
