How to show dimensions in inches in AutoCAD

Issue:

In AutoCAD, the drawing is set up in inches and dimensions need to be set up in inches only (not in feet). For example, when set to Architectural, it would show 1'-6" but the dimension needs to read 18". 

Solution:

Follow the steps below to adjust the Dimension style (see: Dimension Style Manger):
  1. Open the Dimension Style Manager using DIMSTY.
  2. Select the dimension style in use.
  3. Select Modify.
  4. Navigate to the Primary Units tab.
  5. Set Unit Format to Decimal.
  6. Set the Precision to be displayed. For whole inches, set the Precision to 0.
  7. In the Suffix box, add the inch symbol (").
  8. Press OK.
  9. Press Close.
Now the dimensions in this style will show as inches.
