Issue:

How to open CADRA (.cad) file in AutoCAD or how to convert it to a format AutoCAD can open.

Solution:

CADRA (.cad) file format needs to be exported to .dwg or .dxf format for AutoCAD to be able to read it. The following document from Mentor Graphics states that CADRA is able to export to AutoCAD formats:

Since the files are coming from a non-Autodesk product, it will may be necessary to use the RECOVER command within AutoCAD to open and "repair" the files (see Warning: "Open - Foreign DWG File" message appears in AutoCAD).
