MODEL (Command)

Switches from a named layout tab to the Model tab.

When viewing a layout in a named layout tab, you can enter MODEL at the Command prompt or click the Model tab at the bottom-left corner of the drawing area to switch back to the Model tab.

On the Model tab, you create drawings in model space. After you have completed your drawing, you can switch to a named layout tab to begin designing a layout environment from which to plot. You can always return to the Model tab to make design changes, panning and zooming without affecting the views in the layout viewports defined in a layout.

For performance improvements in large drawings when switching between Model and layout tabs, you can use the LAYOUTREGENCTL system variable to control how the display list is updated. (Not available in AutoCAD LT.)
