To Bring In Features from WFS

You can bring in web-based features that have been published to a public web server using the WFS (Web Feature Service) open standard developed by the Open GIS Consortium (OGC).

To bring in features from WFS

Note: This topic applies to geospatial data.
  1. In the Display Manager , click DataConnect To Data.
  2. In the Data Connect window, select Add WGS Connection in the Data Connections By Provider list.
  3. Under Connection Name, type a name for this connection.
  4. Under server name, specify the URL for the WFS server.

Click the down arrow to choose from a list of sample and recently-used URLs.

  5. Specify whether to use the default version or a specific version.

Default Version specifies the highest version number to start the client and server negotiation.

If you select a version number, AutoCAD Map 3D toolset uses that version to negotiate with the server and then uses the next available version number if the server doesn’t provide the service of the version you selected.

  6. If necessary, enter your user name and password.
  7. If you want to set proxy settings, click Show Proxy Settings.
  8. Click Use Proxy Settings.
  9. Specify the following:
    • Enter the address of the proxy server you want to access.
    • Indicate the port number for the proxy server address. The port number can be anything from 1 to 65,535.
    • Specify a user name to gain access to the proxy server.
    • Enter a password, if necessary.

Any proxy settings you make are remembered if you re-open the connection window.

  10. Click Connect.

To bring in features from WFS

  1. Connect to a WFS server as described above.
  2. In the feature class list, select the feature classes to include in the map.

If this feature source contains only a single feature class, that feature class is selected automatically. If it contains multiple feature classes, you can do either of the following:

    • Right-click the schema entry and select Select All or Select None.
    • Expand the schema entry and select the feature classes to add.

If a feature class contains multiple geometry types, and you select the feature class itself, all geometries are added. To add a subset of geometries, hold your cursor over the feature class name to see the Show Geometry button. Click Show Geometry to see each geometry as a separate choice. Select the ones you want. Each selected geometry is added to map as a separate Display Manager layer.

  3. Click Add To Map.
