To Move, Rotate, and Scale an Object

You can simultaneously move, rotate, and scale a group of objects using the Transform editing tool.

To move, rotate, or scale an object

  1. Click Tools tabMap Edit panelTransform. Find
  2. At the ADETRANSFORM (Transform command) prompt, click Select to select individual objects or click Layer to transform all objects on a specified layer.
  3. Select the objects to transform or specify a layer.

If you chose Select, use any AutoCAD selection method to select the objects you want to transform. If you chose Layer, enter the names of the layers you want to transform.

  4. When you see the prompt First Source Point, click the first point on the selection to transform.

For example, to transform an arc, you might click one of its endpoints.

  5. When you see the prompt First Destination Point, click the point in your map where the source point will be relocated.
  6. Define the second source and destination points in the same way.

The relative positions of the destination points determines how the objects are rotated and scaled. For example, if the new points are perpendicular to the original points, the selection will be rotated 90 degrees. If the new points are closer together than the original points, the selection will be scaled down to fit in that space.
