What's New in AutoCAD Map 3D 2020 Toolset

AutoCAD Map 3D 2020 toolset contains customer-focused enhancements across the product. Several features are the result of the need to modernize and streamline frequently used features across many customer disciplines.

New Dark Theme

Your user interface is obviously something that you use all the time. Past customer feedback repeatedly indicated that we needed to make significant changes to improve the clarity and crispness of the dark theme. Similar sharpening was also applied to the light theme as well.

As you can see, we optimized the background colors with the icon colors to provide the optimum contrast without distracting from the drawing area, where you're usually focused.

Autodesk Connector for ArcGIS

AutoCAD Map 3D 2020 toolset allows you to access your GIS data on ArcGIS Online or Portal for ArcGIS Enterprise and bring them into your drawings. After adding the data to your drawing, you can view the features in the canvas, check the records in the data table, stylize the layers, and query to filter the data. For the current release, you cannot edit the data from ArcGIS Online or Portal for ArcGIS Enterprise. You can check the related topics in Help for more details.

Other Enhancements

Extended support for the following FDO providers to newer versions:
- FDO MySQL Provider: MySQL 8.0
- FDO ArcGIS Provider: ArcGIS 10.6.1, ArcGIS 10.5
- FDO SQL Server Spatial Provider: MS SQL Server 2017
- FDO Oracle Provider: Oracle 18c (18.3)

Note: Due to a known problem that exists from Oracle 12.2, users must follow the workaround described here to work with the industry models job in Oracle 12.2 or Oracle 18c: Configure the system with "_allow_insert_with_UPDATE_CHECK" set to True, by executing the following SQL command:

ALTER SYSTEM SET "_allow_insert_with_update_check"=TRUE scope=spfile

Then, restart the database.

Support Middle Point Grip for polygons with interior rings.
A new command MAPNORTHARROWDEFAULTNORTH is introduced in this release. It allows the user to specify whether the North Arrow points to the default north (i.e., the angle of Pi/2) or the north defined in the current coordinate system. When this command sets to 0, the North Arrow will point to the north defined in the coordinate system. When this command sets to 1, the North Arrow will point to the default north.
Enhanced the Industry Module Plot.

The following customer issues have also been resolved in AutoCAD Map 3D 2020 toolset:

Some of the WFS data got flipped in AutoCAD Map 3D toolset. To solve this problem, in the Data Connect dialog, a new checkbox ‘Invert Axis’ is provided to allow you to specify whether to invert the axis when handling the WFS.
For some WFS service, query the data by ‘Locate on map’ option didn’t work.
The command MAPTOACAD took a long time for some specific data.
After exported to DWG, the circle symbols got stretched or compressed depending on zoom level.
The input values like line thickness, the rotation would change when users change the symbol.
Relative Orientation for Utility Point label did not work well for SQLite based industry models.
AutoCAD Map 3D 2020 toolset added some Autodesk.Map.IM namespaces to the Form Controls: Formula Box and Script-Programmable-Control.
Import from Excel lacked a detailed error message.
Intersection Area/Point did not remove deleted/moved feature if using "intersect over the area."
AutoCAD Map 3D toolset could not save projection code to the drawing.
