To Work with Docking, Floating, and Anchoring Windows or Palettes

Dock a Window or Palette

  1. Right-click the title bar and select Allow Docking.
  2. Click and drag the window or palette to a docking location on the right or left edge of the drawing area.
  3. When the outline of the window is displayed in the docking area, release the button.
    Note: To place a window or palette in a docking region without docking it, hold down the Ctrl key as you drag.

Undock a Window or Palette

Use one of the following methods:
  • Right-click the title bar, and clear the Allow Docking checkmark.
  • Double-click the double bars in the title bar.
  • Position the cursor in the title bar and drag the window or palette away from its docked location.

Anchor a Dockable Window

  1. Right-click the title bar and select Allow Docking.
  2. Right-click the title bar and select Anchor Right or Anchor Left.

Float an Anchored Window

Do one of the following:
  • Right-click the title bar and clear the Allow Docking checkmark.
  • When the anchored window is open, drag the title bar away from the edge of the drawing area.
  • Double-click the anchor tab.

Use this procedure for the Tool palette, DesignCenter, the Properties palette, and several other palettes.
