To Search for a Block Name and Insert It

You can use search to find and insert any block definition that is already contained in the drawing.

  1. At the Command prompt, do one of the following:
    • Type block. (Do not press Enter.)

The command line suggestion list expands to include a block category.

    • Type the name, or part of the name, of the block you want to insert. (Do not press Enter.)

A block that matches the letters you typed is displayed at the bottom of the list.

  2. Expand the drop-down list if necessary to display more available blocks. Hover over the items on the list to see a thumbnail preview.
  3. Select a block to insert.
  4. Follow the prompts to insert the block.
