Issue:

Users reported that When launching Fusion, 3ds Max or Maya with a Wacom device with drivers 6.4.1-2 installed, the software crashes on launch.

For 3ds Max, the splash window disappears or the following error appears:

Environment:

  • Windows 10
  • Windows 11

Causes:

  • The Wacom device is not plugged into the computer.
  • Incompatibility with Driver.

Solution:

To resolve this behavior, install the latest Wacom driver. Specifically, driver 6.4.1-3 was created to address incompatibility issues with Fusion, 3ds Max and Maya; view release notes: 6.4.1-3 Release Notes.

Alternatively, use the following process (attempt each solution in order, however if the issue is resolved prior to completing all steps do not continue):

  1. Confirm that the Wacom device is plugged into the computer.
  2. Reboot the machine after installing the latest Wacom Driver.
  3. Uninstall the current driver and roll back to a previous compatible Wacom driver: How do I uninstall and re-install the Wacom driver on Windows for a Pen Tablet, Pen Display, or Pen Computer? – Wacom
    • To locate legacy drivers, use the following process:
      1. Visit the Wacom support site.
      2. Enter the device information.
      3. Click older driver section to download the version previous to 6.4.1-2:

If the Wacom driver can be uninstalled, or the latest drivers still cause the issue, make sure that file 'C:\Windows\System32\WacomMT.dll' is removed and try again. It is this file that is causing the crash.
