Installing and uninstalling updates

3ds Max updates are cumulative and include all fixes from previous updates up to the stated prerequisite. Updates can be applied to 3ds Max installed as a standalone application or installed as part of a Suite or Collection.

After applying an update, the product build in the About box will display the update version and build number of the latest update you installed.

Prerequisites

3ds Max 2020 must be installed prior to installing any updates.

Downloading and installing

You can download and install 3ds Max release updates automatically with the Autodesk Desktop App.

Uninstalling updates

Uninstalling an update should silently revert the 3ds Max install to the previous update level. In the event the uninstall process does not fully restore to a previously installed update level, the required updates should be manually reinstalled as needed.

Customer error reports

We can improve the stability of 3ds Max largely because of the Customer Error Reports (CERs) you submit. By including as much information as possible about what actions you were performing when the error occurred, you increase the report's value immensely. Thank you very much for taking the time, we really appreciate it. For more information, see CERs.
