What's New in 3ds Max 2019.2 Update

As you proceed through the documentation, keep an eye out for the icon, indicating a new feature, and the icon, indicating a change to an existing feature. Highlights
Fluids:
  • Fluid Loader objects now make it easy to load and manipulate cached simulation data. You can individually transform each object, offset their playback, assign materials and render or hide any number in the completed simulation.
  • Support for rendering fluid channel data with Arnold.
  • You can now copy display and render settings for both Liquid and Fluid Loader objects and apply them to selected target objects.
3ds Max Security Tools:
  • 3ds Max Security Tools protect you from malicious CRP and ALC 3rd party scripts, which can corrupt the 3ds Max environment, cause data loss and instability, as well as spread to other systems.
Autodesk Drive:
  • Your 3ds Max subsciption now includes this cloud storage application that supports over 60 types of Autodesk and 3rd party files for viewing.
  • For select file types, you can edit designs and manage references automatically.
  • View models and drawings in CAD, CAM, and BIM projects directly in browser with no plug-ins or downloads required.
  • View and organize files stored in Drive from desktop applications while only downloading when you need them.

Enhancements and Changes

Arnold Initial support for texture baking.
Alembic file import and export Alembic support continues to maximize compliance with VFX standards and compatibility with other DCC tools. Updated to Version 1.7, Alembic now supports instances, allowing files to be drastically smaller while maintaining their original complexity. Tree View and searching is improved in the Inspector Window, and files shared between 3ds Max and Maya are now UV compatible.
OSL (Open Shading Language) Improvements to the OSL source editor include the display of line numbers, more intuitive keyboard shortcuts, and matching brackets are now highlighted. In addition, many more OSL shaders are supported in the viewport when in "Realistic Mode with Maps."
Interface Track View, Scene Explorer, and State sets are now windowed, based on user feedback. Fluid spinners now provide visual cues when they represent an object/value in an indeterminate state.
Shared Views Autodesk Materials and Vray material with textures can now be exported using Shared Views.
