Release Notes - Autodesk Inventor 2015 SP2 Readme
Autodesk, Inc.
In a continuing effort to provide high quality products, this Service Pack 2 for Autodesk Inventor 2015 fixes or addresses multiple issues. This document highlights these fixes and how to install the service pack.
General
- SP2 (Build 223) installs on Autodesk Inventor 2015 (Build 159) or SP1 (Build 203).
- Uninstalling SP1 Update before installing SP2 is recommended.
- Keep the original installation media or network image readily accessible during installation and uninstallation in case you are prompted for it.
- Installation may be slow due to Microsoft security update KB2918614. If so, the installation will require 1-2 hours to complete.
For more information, please refer to Autodesk Knowledge Network
and Microsoft support page.
- Install the Autodesk Inventor 2015 Service Pack 2 that matches your operating system's bit-type. Install 32-bit or 64-bit depending on your operating system.
- When appending Service Pack 2 for a deployment, update the deployment image on the same bit-type computer as the computer for the final installation from that image. For more information about Network Deployments,
see the Network Administrator's Guide.
- Service Pack 2 includes released hotfixes for Autodesk Inventor 2015, including fixes within Service Pack 1, Update1, Update2 and OpenSSL, no prerequisite installations are required.
- The Layout tab is not selectable in the DWG Import preview window. Install the latest
DWG Trueview 2015 to remove it.
Installation
- Update your operating system before installing Autodesk Inventor 2015 Service Pack 2. Reboot your system after updates are installed.
- Uninstall the hotfix Unexpected exit when Opening and saving Inventor 2013 part with Custom Material (INV19022) if you installed this hotfix before you install Autodesk Inventor 2015 Service Pack 2. Locate the hotfix from the Control Panel
-> Programs -> Programs and Features -> View installed updates to uninstall the hotfix.
Windows 7: Update is in the Control Panel, which is accessible from the Start menu.
Windows 8: Update is in the Control Panel, on the desktop Charms Bar -> Settings menu.
- Double click the .msp file to update Autodesk Inventor 2015 with Service Pack 2. A progress bar displays while the installer updates the files on your system. When complete, select Finish.
- Reboot your system after the installation of Service Pack 2 is complete.
To verify success of installation, start Autodesk Inventor. On the Info Center Help drop-down list, select About Autodesk Inventor. If the About box displays: Build: 223, Release: 2015 SP2, the installation was successful.
Uninstallation
Uninstall may require the original source media. Please have it handy during this process. You do not need to uninstall the Beta 219 SP2 build before installing the final release build. You can install it directly on top of the Beta version.
The uninstall process is prolonged as it waits for the operating system’s file updates to time out. This process takes up to six hours. To speed up the uninstall process, perform the following steps after the file updates are complete:
- Access Network Connections in your system Control Panel.
- Disable the local area connection and all network adaptors, including virtual adaptors.
- After the uninstall process completes successfully, in your system Control Panel, re-enable the local area connection and all network adaptors, including virtual adaptors.
- Reboot the system after the uninstallation of Service Pack 2 is complete.
If the hotfix icon cannot be uninstalled from the Control Panel, perform the following steps:
- Go to regedit.
- Find the key, Autodesk Inventor Professional 2015_[hotfix number] under Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall.
- Delete this key and its subkeys.
