Model Documentation Hotfix for Windows^® 8.1 - 64 bit

This hotfix fixes Model Documentation and IMPORT command related issues found in AutoCAD 2013 based products on 64 bit Windows^® 8.1.

Description of Problem

The following operations are not possible on 64 bit versions of Windows^® 8.1.

• Creation of model documentation drawing views
• Import of the following file formats:
  • CATIA (V4 and V5)
  • Autodesk Inventor
  • Pro Engineer
  • SolidWorks
  • Parasolid
  • JT
  • NX
  • STEP
  • Rhino

IMPORTANT: Note that this hotfix applies only to 64 bit versions of Windows^® 8.1. There is no need to apply this hot fix if you are running AutoCAD 2013 on any other operating systems.

Installation Instructions

To install this Hotfix

NOTE: You must have administrative privileges on your Microsoft^® Windows^® operating system to complete the installation process.

This installation process requires you to modify an installed product, which may cause Windows security warnings to appear. For all Windows security warnings that appear during installation, click Continue.

1. Download AutoCAD 2013 Model Documentation_Windows 8.1 Hotfix (64bit).zip.
2. Close AutoCAD 2013.
3. Navigate to the folder corresponding to C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2013\Inventor Server\bin on your computer.
4. Right-click rse.dll and click Properties.
5. Click the details tab and verify the file version.
   1. If the version number is 17.0.11100.0, proceed with installation.
   2. If the version number is 17.0.11101.0 or greater, this hotfix has already been applied and you do not need to proceed with the installation.
6. Right-click rse.dll and rename it as old_rse.dll.
7. Extract the downloaded zip file AutoCAD 2013 Model Documentation_Windows 8.1 Hotfix (64bit).zip to the location specified in step 3.
8. Repeat steps 4 and 5 and verify that the file version is 17.0.11101.0 .

To remove this Hotfix

1. Close AutoCAD 2013.
2. Navigate to the folder corresponding to C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2013\Inventor Server\bin on your computer.
3. Right-click rse.dll and rename it as Bak_rse.dll.
4. Right-click old_rse.dll and rename it as rse.dll
