The Latest Autodesk Desktop Licensing Service Update

Autodesk Licensing Service updates are applicable to 2020 and later product versions.

How to install Autodesk Desktop Licensing Service

Windows:

  1. Close all Autodesk products.
  2. Download and unzip the AdskLicensingInstaller-win-15.3.0.12981.zip installer file. 
  3. Right-click the AdskLicensing-installer.exe file and go to Properties > General tab.
  • Important: If you see a Security section at the bottom of the window (as shown in the following screenshot), select Unblock.

     4. Click OK to close the window.
     5. Double-click the EXE file to start the installation.

Note:

Autodesk has recently incorporated a dependency on Microsoft Edge WebView2 into its licensing. This is a crucial component required for the smooth operation of Autodesk licensing. Therefore, it's essential to ensure that this component is installed on your system.

If you haven't yet installed Microsoft Edge WebView2 or if a reinstall is necessary, you can follow these detailed steps:

  1. Navigate to the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime download page to access the most up-to-date stable version.

  2. Initiate the download of the WebView2 Runtime installer by clicking on the 'Download' button.

  3. Upon successful download, locate the installer file on your system.

  4. Execute the installer file, and closely adhere to the instructions that appear on your screen. This will ensure a successful installation or reinstall of Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime.

 

MacOS:

  1. Download the AdskLicensingInstaller-mac-15.3.0.12981.tar.gz installer file.
  2. Extract the downloaded file.Terminal: Navigate to the folder containing the TAR file and enter the following command: tar zxvf AdskLicensingInstaller-mac-15.3.0.12981.tar.gz
    • Finder: Navigate to the folder containing the TAR file and double-click the compressed TAR file you downloaded.
  3. After you extract the file, do one of the following:
    • On the command line, enter the following command to install the extracted PKG file: sudo installer -pkg /path/to/AdskLicensing-15.3.0.12981-mac-installer.pkg -target /
    • Double-click the AdskLicensing-15.3.0.12981-mac-installer.pkg file and follow the instructions

Linux:

  1. Download the AdskLicensingInstaller-linux-15.3.0.12981.tar.gz installer file.
  2. Extract the downloaded file.
    • Terminal: Navigate to the folder containing the TAR file and enter the following command: tar zxvf AdskLicensingInstaller-linux-15.3.0.12981.tar.gz
  3. After extraction, use the following commands to install licensing:
    • cd adsklicensinginstaller
    • sudo sh install.sh (This installs Identity Manager also which is a dependency for licensing)

Note:

The installer has been updated to reflect the minimum OS requirements across all supported platforms. Effective from release 15.3.0.12981, the minimum OS versions required for installation are as follows:

  • Windows: 10.0.17763
  • macOS: 12.0
  • Linux: 8.2

Troubleshooting 

If you get a licensing error after updating to 15.3.0.12981, please follow the troubleshooting steps:

  • Close all Autodesk applications.
  • Reboot your computer.
  • Restart the product.
