The Vault grid in Vault Explorer and the Vault Add-ins can be configured to suit your browsing needs.
Work with the Find Panel
Use the Find panel to search for objects within the current context of the grid.
Turn on the Find Panel
- Right-click a column header and then select View
Show Find Panel.
The Find panel is displayed at the top of the grid.
Search for Text
- In the Find panel, enter a text string for which to search in the current view.
- Click Find to add the search string to the recent searches drop-down list.
- Click Clear to empty the search field and reset the view to show all entries.
The grid automatically filters out the rows that do not contain matching strings and highlights the properties in the columns that contain matches.
Turn Off the Find Panel
- Right-click a column header and then select View > Show Find Panel to toggle the display of the Find panel.
- Click close on the Find panel.
Customize Columns
The columns displayed in the grid represent the properties for that object in the vault. You can customize which columns are displayed and the order in which they are displayed.
Arrange Columns
- Drag a column header to a new position between any two headers in the grid. The arrows indicate the new position for the selected column.
Add Columns
- Right-click on a column header and then select Choose Columns. The Choose Columns dialog lists the properties that are available for displaying in the grid.
- From the drop-down list, select the object-type from which you want to select columns. Select All to view all the possible properties.
- Drag-and-drop a column from the Choose Columns dialog into the header row for the grid. You can place the new column between any existing columns in the layout.
Remove Columns
- Drag a column header out of the grid and release it. The cursor changes to an "X" indicating that the column will be removed from the layout when the mouse button is released.
- Right-click on a column and then select Remove This Column. The column is removed from the grid layout.
Reset Columns
- Right-click on a column header and then select Reset Columns to return the grid layout to the factory defaults.
Manage the Column Quick List (Available in CAD Add-in Grids)
The Quick List contains the column headers that you use most. You can create a list of favorite columns and then turn those columns on or off as needed.
Add a Column to the Quick List
- Right-click on a column header and then select Quick List Add to Quick List. The selected column is added to the quick list.
Turn a Favorite Column On or Off using the Quick List
- Right-click on a column header and then select Quick List. The Quick List lists the favorite columns that are currently displayed in the grid as well as those that are not.
- Click a column in the list to toggle the display of that column either on or off in the grid.
Remove a Column from the Quick List
- Right-click on a column header and then select Quick List.
- Highlight the column to remove from the list and then click Remove columnn from Quick List. The selected column is removed from the quick list, but remains in the grid until you remove it from the layout.
Change View
Use Change View to change the layout of the grid. The grid can display a customizable table of objects and properties, a simplified list of objects, or various sizes of object icons.
- Click the Change View drop-down and then select the icon size or grid layout to use.
- Click the Change View button to cycle through the grid layout options.
- Right-click a column header and then select View. From the View menu, select a grid layout.
View Options
Right-click a column header and then select View from the context menu.
- Select Show Find Panel to display an in-context search tool. Note: Show Find Panel is not available in the Autodesk Vault Add-in for Inventor.
- Select Show Grid Lines to toggle the display of grid lines on or off in the grid.
- Select Show Banding to toggle the display of alternating color bands on or off in the grid.
- Select Automatic Column Sizing to toggle whether or not columns adjust automatically to fit within the available view area.
