Custom Grid Options

The Vault grid in Vault Explorer and the Vault Add-ins can be configured to suit your browsing needs.

Work with the Find Panel

Use the Find panel to search for objects within the current context of the grid.

Note: Show Find Panel is not available in the Autodesk Vault add-in for Inventor.

Turn on the Find Panel

Search for Text

  1. In the Find panel, enter a text string for which to search in the current view.
  2. The grid automatically filters out the rows that do not contain matching strings and highlights the properties in the columns that contain matches.

  3. Click Find to add the search string to the recent searches drop-down list.
  4. Click Clear to empty the search field and reset the view to show all entries.

Turn Off the Find Panel

  1. Right-click a column header and then select View > Show Find Panel to toggle the display of the Find panel.
  2. Click close on the Find panel.

Customize Columns

The columns displayed in the grid represent the properties for that object in the vault. You can customize which columns are displayed and the order in which they are displayed.

Add Columns

  1. Right-click on a column header and then select Choose Columns. The Choose Columns dialog lists the properties that are available for displaying in the grid.
  2. From the drop-down list, select the object-type from which you want to select columns. Select All to view all the possible properties.
  3. Drag-and-drop a column from the Choose Columns dialog into the header row for the grid. You can place the new column between any existing columns in the layout.

Manage the Column Quick List (Available in CAD Add-in Grids)

The Quick List contains the column headers that you use most. You can create a list of favorite columns and then turn those columns on or off as needed.

Add a Column to the Quick List

Turn a Favorite Column On or Off using the Quick List

  1. Right-click on a column header and then select Quick List. The Quick List lists the favorite columns that are currently displayed in the grid as well as those that are not.
  2. Click a column in the list to toggle the display of that column either on or off in the grid.

Remove a Column from the Quick List

  1. Right-click on a column header and then select Quick List.
  2. Highlight the column to remove from the list and then click Remove columnn from Quick List. The selected column is removed from the quick list, but remains in the grid until you remove it from the layout.

Change View

Use Change View to change the layout of the grid. The grid can display a customizable table of objects and properties, a simplified list of objects, or various sizes of object icons.
