In some cases, it is necessary to prepare the CAD model before launching into CFD. If CFD does not support direct launching from your CAD system, you can use Autodesk® SimStudio to prepare the model and to launch into CFD.
Note: Learn more about Autodesk® SimStudio
here. While the list of CAD formats supported by Autodesk® SimStudio is extensive, the following CAD systems have been supported for direct launch in previous versions of CFD. Autodesk® SimStudio is the recommended method for launching models from these CAD systems:
- Pro/Engineer Wildfire 3 and previous versions
- One Space Designer (CoCreate Modeling)
- Solid Edge
To use Autodesk® SimStudio as a CAD Reader:
- Open the CAD model directly into Autodesk® SimStudio (which is included in the Autodesk® CFD installation).
- Use the extensive collection of Autodesk® SimStudio geometry tools to prepare the model for simulation.
-
To transfer the model into CFD, click Simulate in CFD from the ADD-INS tab:
Note: To use Autodesk® SimStudio with models from the following CAD systems, you should first save the model from the CAD system to the indicated geometry format, and then open that file into Autodesk® SimStudio:
- One Space Designer (CoCreate Modeling) (Acis, v7.0 or earlier)
- Solid Edge (Acis, v7.0 or earlier)
The visible model is launched, and the Design Study Manager opens.
