New User Quick Start

In these short topics, we introduce you to Autodesk® CFD. There are three steps to learn the basics:

Step 1: Watch the Quick Start Videos.

These five short videos take you through the basics of Autodesk® CFD. Feel free to watch all five in series or explore a Quick Start tutorial along the way.

The CFD Story

CFD analysis is a powerful tool for understanding how fluids (liquids and gases) behave and how they work with the products we design. In this video, we explore what CFD analysis does, why you should it, and when it can have the greatest impact.

Step 2: Do a Quick Start Tutorial.

These tutorials feature three different applications often simulated with Autodesk® CFD. They introduce similar concepts, so select the one that most interests you. Each tutorial takes about 20 minutes to setup and run.

Flow Control

Simulate water flowing through a hydraulic control valve. The valve is half open, so the goal is to find the pressure drop and flow distribution.

AEC Ventilation

Simulate air flow within an office enclosure. The model simulates a summer design day, so it's hot outside and we need to keep the occupant cool.

Electronics Cooling

Simulate air flow and component temperatures in an electronics chassis. The enclosure contains PCBs, chips, and a fan to keep things cool.

Step 3: Apply what you've learned.

Now that you have explored the basics, it's time to start creating your own simulations. The skills you learned in these videos and tutorials will help you with your own flow and heat transfer simulations.
