Download & Install

The Browser Download method uses the built-in file download features of your Web browser. Downloaded files are larger compared to other methods, may be broken into multiple file downloads, and can be uncompressed and installed only after all downloads are complete.

Recommended if you cannot use the Autodesk Download Manager or other download methods are not offered as an option. If this download method is not displayed as an option, it is not available for the product you selected.

Important Notes About Browser Download

• Disabling pop-up blocker required: Installation files larger than 2 GB are divided into multiple files that will download simultaneously. You must disable your pop-up blocker before initiating a Browser Download to download all files successfully.

• Executing any downloaded file activates file extraction: If multiple .exe or .dmg files are downloaded, you can launch any of them to initiate complete extraction of all the installation files.

Download the Installer

To use the Browser Download method:

1. Disable pop-up blocking on your Web browser.

2. After you sign in to the Education Community website, click Get Free Software on the left.

3. Select the product you want to download

4. Specify the Educational license type. (This is a required field):

   • Multi-seat Stand-alone - You want to run a specified number of products on different computers using a single serial number.
   • Network - You want to install products on and access them from a network server.

5. Specify Version, Operating System, and Language.

   The serial number and product key are displayed.

   • Network license valid for 3,000 concurrent users.
   • Multi-seat Stand-alone licenses valid for 1,250 devices.

   Note: For Windows systems, "32-bit" or "64-bit" refers to the version of your operating system, which you can check by going to Control Panel > System. You must choose the correct version in order to use the software.

6. Select Browser Download.

   You may need to click the Install Now drop-down arrow to access Browser Download.

   Note: Some products have multiple files; you need to enable pop-ups on your browser to allow the additional files to be downloaded.

   You may be prompted to click Run to start the download (Internet Explorer), or the download may start automatically in your download window/bar (Chrome, Firefox or Safari).

7. In the Extract To window, click OK to save the file to the default Destination folder (recommended).

   Although this location can be changed, we recommend that you retain the default location. 

   The extraction process can take several minutes.

   Note: The Product Installer is not the same as the product software.  You'll need to run the Product Installer in order to install the software on your computer.

8. When the extraction is complete, you may be asked to restart your computer before continuing with product installation.

Deploy to Multiple Computers

You can install or deploy the software as soon as the download process is complete, or you can wait and install the files later. The method you use depends on whether you are doing stand-alone installations on multiple computers or deploying to multiple devices using a network server. If prompted for a serial number, be sure to use the serial number provided for your institutional account when you downloaded the product.

Register & Activate

Educational institutions with multi-seat or network licenses need to manually register the serial numbers and network licenses obtained for the school at registeronce.autodesk.com before activating the software.  Be sure to use the serial number and product key obtained from the Education Community site when you downloaded the product.
